Final project info.

On Thursday April 5 we'll start talking about your options as far as printing your final project... and by final project I just mean your best work from the semester, not necessarily your final photo essay.

SO, be sure to bring your files so you can start sorting through and finding your favorites. It's best if you bring the ORIGINAL files so you can do any re-editing that might be necessary to make them look their best.

You'll have the option to either do........... 

A) photo book through Shutterfly, etc, 

B) a simple photo portfolio of your best 12 (8x10s), or 

C) dry mounting your best 6.

Schedule change: Group 3 moved from March 8 to March 13.

Slight change to schedule

Feb 16 - portrait demonstration lecture (everyone)

Feb 21 - work day for portraits (instead of lecture)

Feb 23 - work day for portraits (same)

I want to make sure everyone has a chance to use the studio since it's only open during our class time.

ALSO for your studio portraits, you can EITHER shoot a stranger (3 shots like the assignment sheet says) or 3 classmates (not strangers... but still 3 shots of each person).


So, 1 stranger (not friend or family) or 3 classmates since they are easier.

You can pose for more than one classmate.

Also note that we'll have the two studios in room 19 to use, but not the one over by the Chronicle room.

Hey folks.. here's a little refresher on Camera Raw and correcting color (and other functions).

Couple things.. one:

Flickr Uploadr. Free download that allows you to upload to Flickr a little more easily.

Second... I'll try to remember to mention this in class Thursday but all photos you turn in for class need to be new ones shot for this class. (Although they can overlap with current classes)

Hey folks..

We probably won't shoot anything Tuesday BUT please bring your camera because we'll be talking about some settings that will be useful for photojournalism and it will be good to be able be hands on while we do it.

On the first day I briefly mentioned Drop Box as a way to store your files securely online... if you want to try it for free, use this link (we both get an extra 250MB for free!).

The way I have it setup, is I have a Drop Box folder on my computer and anything I drag in there will automatically but uploaded (and backed up!) to the site. Nice!

Hey folks.. here is what we're up to:

Tues Nov 15: Dry mounting work. If you don't do it this day, then after Thanksgiving break. You don't have to do it in class, either, if you know how to do it yourself. If you pick one of the other options for the final project, you can come in and work if you wish. I'll be here to help.

Thurs Nov 17: Last lecture and quiz. 

Tues Nov 22: No class this day. Happy Thanksgiving.

After Thanksgiving, one more round of group meetings -- we'll review work from the semester and perhaps go over some Photoshop tricks (so think of good questions for me!).

Hey folks... as a group we decided no class this Thursday -- we will share our favorites from this semester but it will be a later date. So, make-up work day Thursday, do what you'd like with it. I'll be around in the photo room or in 3W, room 2 if you need me.
